Rare Mountain Tornado Uproots Pikes Peak, CO Trees

Tornadoes don’t often form this high up because the conditions at that elevation don’t often support cyclonic activity. But, just because it’s rare doesn’t mean it’s impossible. National Weather Service surveyors found uprooted trees as the result of a recent tornado on the northern slopes of Pikes Peak in Colorado.
