Derecho Likely Across Northern Plains, Midwest Monday

A derecho (cluster of long-lived thunderstorms producing widespread wind damage) is looking more likely to develop across the Northern Plains and Midwest Monday afternoon into Monday night. This is very strong wording coming from the Storm Prediction Center, so please be on high alert and have multiple ways to receive warnings if you live in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota or Iowa. Wind gusts in excess of 75 mph will be the biggest threat, although large hail and a few tornadoes will also be possible. Areas most at risk include Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Watertown, Pierre, Brookings and Mankato.
