A round of strong storms pummeled the Pacific Northwest for several days, triggering floods and mudslides that covered some roadways and even washed out homes.

At least two people were killed by the storms and flooding, both in Oregon. The torrential rainfall forced officials to evacuate several towns in Oregon and Washington as floodwaters rose and creeks overflowed their banks.

More than 100,000 customers lost power at the height of the storms, and schools in many districts had to be canceled for a day or more as the impacts worsened. In northwestern Washington, Sea-Tac Airport said the first nine days of December have been the wettest nine-day stretch to start the month on record, with 5.96 inches of rainfall reported.
