Here are the latest photos from tornado outbreak and severe weather from the South into the Ohio Valley.



Just two days before Christmas, a tornado outbreak left damage from parts of the South into the Ohio Valley. At least 15 deaths and dozens of injuries were blamed on the severe weather Wednesday.

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down near Clarksdale, a town of 17,000 in Coahoma County in northwestern Mississippi. The National Weather Service has received reports that at least 15 homes just south of Clarksdale were severely damaged or destroyed.

At least six people were confirmed dead in Mississippi, including a 7-year-old boy who died in a vehicle due to storm-related injuries on Highway 7. Members of his family were taken to the hospital; their condition wasn’t immediately clear. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said at least 40 people were injured. Shelters have been opened.

An 18-year-old woman died earlier Wednesday in Arkansas. Michaela Remus was killed when a tree fell on a home northeast of Atkins. The Pope County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that the woman was killed Wednesday morning. Her 18-month-old sister, also inside the home, was rescued by emergency personnel.

Three others were killed in Tennessee by a likely tornado Wednesday night, officials confirmed.

Damage was also reported in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky as the storms pushed east. Additional damaging storms could cause problems on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the Southeast and Ohio Valley.
