A slow-moving storm system, with added moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Patricia, pounded Texas over the weekend, dropping record rainfall and forcing dozens of high water rescues across the state.

Rainfall rates reached 2 to 3 inches an hour at times in Houston Saturday. The city's Emergency Operations Center escalated to Level 1 response late Saturday to respond to major interstates covered by water.

The heavy rain spread east toward the end of the weekend, but rain isn't the only threat. Isolated tornadoes are also possible along the Gulf Coast into Monday.
