Tropical Depression Sixteen-E has dissipated over northwestern Mexico.


Threats From Ernesto Impacting US Coastal Areas


  • Tropical Depression Sixteen-E formed Sunday evening in the eastern Pacific Ocean about 90 miles west of Cabo San Lazaro, Mexico.
  • It made its first landfall shortly before 11 p.m. PDT Sunday on the central part of Mexico's Baja California peninsula.
  • After crossing the Gulf of California, it made a second and final landfall around sunrise Monday near Bahia Kino, Sonora, in the northwestern part of Mexico's mainland.
  • Tropical Depression Sixteen-E dissipated over northwestern Mexico Monday afternoon.
  • Moisture from the system was drawn northward into portions of the southwestern U.S., leading to heavy rainfall.
