Area To Watch Rises To 30% Chance Of Development

The latest update from the National Hurricane Center shows a slight increase in the chance of development for an area of interest near Florida. The chance for subtropical or tropical development over the next seven days has increased from 20% to 30%. Although this is still a low chance, it shows the area near Florida from the Southeast coast all the way to the Eastern Gulf needs to be closely monitored as it is located very close to home. An area of low pressure may develop along a stalled front by the upcoming holiday weekend. Regardless of development, heavy rain looks likely across Florida later this week into the upcoming Fourth of July weekend.
