Humberto More Than Doubled In Strength

October 3, 2025

Humberto went from a tropical storm with winds of 65 mph to a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 145 mph in a 24 hour period. The storm will continue strengthening and potentially become a rare Category 5 hurricane. Humberto is expected to maintain major hurricane strength this weekend as it heads to the northwest before turning to the northeast and passing between Bermuda and the East Coast of the United States while remaining at major hurricane strength. While this storm is not expected to be a direct impact to the US, Humberto could bring coastal flooding, large waves and rip currents to the East Coast. There is still uncertainty about if this storm will interact with Imelda and how it will impact Bermuda. Here’s the latest.
