First Pacific Depression Of The Season Forms

May 29, 2025

The first tropical depression of the season has formed off the coast of southern Mexico. The National Hurricane Center expects Tropical Storm Alvin to form by Wednesday in the Eastern Pacific. This system is expected to strengthen into a strong tropical storm as it moves northwestward, running parallel to the Mexican coastline before the storm weakens in cooler waters near Baja California. Mexico’s coast will see high surf and possible bands of heavy rain.
