With the opening of a new hurricane season comes renewed worries along our coastlines. Hurricanes are possible along the Gulf Coast in June, but they’ve been rare in recent decades. You don’t have to go back far to find a devastating storm, though. In 2001, Tropical Storm Allison brought widespread flooding and killed more than 50 people. You should keep your summer travel plans intact to places like Tampa Bay, Myrtle Beach, Galveston Island and Cozumel, but have a plan B in case it rains while you are there.
