Two Dozen Waffle Houses Remained Closed After Helene

Twenty-four Waffle House restaurants remained closed a week after Helene pummeled the Southeast and several others were open with limited service only. The “Waffle House Index” is sometimes used as an indicator of how bad a storm’s impacts might be. The closed locations include Waffle Houses in Asheville, North Carolina; Greenburg-Spartanburg, South Carolina; plus Augusta and Valdosta, Georgia.
