Mid-Atlantic Flood Threat, Northeast Severe Threat

July 8, 2025

The remnants of Chantal will bring plenty of tropical moisture to the mid-Atlantic leading to a flash flood threat on Monday. 2 to 5 inches of rain will be possible with the greatest risk for flooding along the Interstate 95 corridor from near Trenton down to Philadelphia, Wilmington and areas just east of Baltimore. Farther north, across the interior Northeast, a cold front will bring a chance for scattered severe storms. Showers and storms will begin to develop Monday afternoon tapering off by Monday night. Damaging winds along with heavy rain will be the main threats for places like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Rochester and Burlington.
