A plume of moisture from the Gulf will surge across the South through Thursday. A few tornadoes, including the potential for a strong tornado, and damaging wind gusts are possible for areas from Louisiana into western Georgia. Rounds of rain may also cause flooding for parts of the South into the southern Appalachians, including areas hit hard by Hurricane Helene near Asheville. The South will get a brief break on Friday before another system moves in for the weekend with the potential for severe storms and flash flooding.
