Coastal Storm Set To Bring Heavy Rain, Wind, Tidal Flooding

A coastal storm is set to impact the mid-Atlantic starting late Monday and continuing through Wednesday. Heavy rain could lead to flooding as a widespread 1 to 3 inches is expected in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News and the Outer Banks with higher totals not out of the question. Gusty winds will push water onshore, so minor to moderate tidal flooding will be possible along the James River and parts of the Chesapeake Bay. Water levels will peak during high tide Tuesday evening. Large breaking waves will lead to a high risk for rip currents, so it’s best to stay out of the water. Here’s the latest update.
