California's Sierra Nevada is legendary for the feet of snow that can pile up in a few days, and right now, it's providing another eye-popping example.

An active storm track and cold temperatures have allowed parts of this mountain range to get buried by over 10 feet of snowfall in about a week. One example: Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort reported 144 inches (12 feet) of snow in seven days as of Wednesday morning.
