Extraordinary Video Shows Whales Supporting Mom, Newborn

A newly released study and video is adding to the evidence that humans aren’t the only species that connects and supports each other during childbirth. Researchers with Project CETI captured incredibly rare video of the birth of a sperm whale. Filmed near the Caribbean island of Dominica, a group of whales repeatedly lifted the calf to the water’s surface, because newborns can’t swim well. But the moment also revealed much more.
