Treacherous travel conditions will last through Thursday morning in Savannah, Ga. because of black ice, which cannot be seen along the roadway but is typical in most areas prone to freezing, including bridges and overpasses.

The city, known as one of the most haunted cities in America, looked like a ghost town Wednesday after a wintry mix of rain and sleet from Winter Storm Leon fell on the area.

The Sam Varnedoe drawbridge on the Islands Expressway is the only bridge still closed, according to Savannah Morning News. The bridge is composed of metal grates, making it impossible to salt and sand, officials said.
