Located along Namibia's Skeleton Coast, Sandwich Harbour is a protected wetland where the ancient Namib Desert literally tumbles into the Atlantic Ocean.

This remarkable phenomenon occurs because the cold Benguela Current from Antarctica meets the hot, dry winds of the Namib Desert — one of the world's oldest deserts. The result is a narrow strip where two of nature's most powerful forces create an otherworldly landscape that supports an incredible variety of wildlife, from seals and dolphins offshore to ostriches and jackals on the dunes.
