The Church of St. Dunstan in London, England stood through rough times. In 1666 it was severely damaged by the Great Fire of London and then bombed during the Blitz of 1941. But instead of tearing down the church remains, the City of London decided to transform the remnants into a public garden. 

Originally built around 1100, the garden opened in 1970, according to the City of London. The remaining walls and memorials have aged gracefully, looking like a scene straight out of a fairytale. Recently, the city revitalized the space with new plants to expand the range of plants living amongst the ruins of the church.
