One particularly striking photo depicts a Costa Rican snake devouring a frog in the rain. The photographer Nicholas Reusens told Smithsonian.com, "I could only get around five pictures before the frog was swallowed and the snake disappeared into the forest."

Voters have until March 30 to decide on a winner. The photographer whose photo receives the most votes will win a $500 cash prize. The Reader's Choice winner will be announced on March 31, alongside the grand prize winner and category winners.
