At 217 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain continuing over windward Oahu and extending into Manoa Valley and Palolo Valley. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Streams in Manoa, Palolo, urban Honolulu, and windward Oahu remain very high. Flash flooding is ongoing. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Honolulu, Ahuimanu, Kaneohe, Kahaluu, Waiahole, Kalihi, Moanalua, Maunawili, Halawa, Aiea, Manoa, Kaneohe Marine Base, Waikane, Salt Lake, Kailua, Palolo, Pearl City, Waimanalo, Kaaawa and Hawaii Kai. WHEN...Until 330 PM HST. IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1220 PM HST, radar indicated heavy showers continuing over windward Oahu, with rain falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Due to saturated ground, expect streams to rise rapidly, even in leeward areas including urban Honolulu. Police reported that traffic along Kamehameha Highway in Waikane was being contra flowed due to water on the road. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Honolulu, Waipio, Waiahole, Waikane, Kahaluu, Ahuimanu, Pearl City, Kaaawa, Aiea, Halawa, Mililani, Punaluu, Moanalua, Wahiawa, Salt Lake, Kaneohe, Wheeler Field, Hauula, Kalihi and Kaneohe Marine Base. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding.
