WHEN...Until 215 AM HST. IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1118 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the southeast slopes of the Big Island from Volcano to Naalehu. Additional rainfall is expected to move in over leeward Big Island from the west. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hilo, Kailua-Kona, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Captain Cook, Waikoloa Village, Kapaau, Honokaa, Pohakuloa Training Area, Pohakuloa Camp, Volcano, Wood Valley, Glenwood, Honaunau, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Honalo, Mountain View, Kainaliu, Kealakekua and Puuanahulu. WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. WHERE...Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island. WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A kona low west of the islands has drawn abundant moisture northward. Rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are anticipated. The heaviest rain is expected to last through tonight, except for the Big Island where the heaviest rain is expected Sunday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
