WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, southwest winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and seas 4 to 6 ft. For the Gale Warning, north winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt and seas 4 to 7 ft expected. WHERE...The coastal waters from Ocracoke Inlet to Surf City. WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, until 5 PM EDT this afternoon. For the Gale Warning, from 5 PM this afternoon to 8 AM EDT Tuesday. IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Moderate southwesterly winds will continue today in advance of an approaching cold front. Gale force northerly winds then develop behind the cold front late today. Elevated winds and seas last into Tuesday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions.
