...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 AM HST EARLY THIS MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY... WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. WHERE...The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County. WHEN...Until 515 AM HST. IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 152 AM HST, radar indicated heavy showers lifting north over the Big Island, with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. The heaviest rainfall is located over the southwest and southeast slopes of Mauna Loa. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... The entire island of Hawaii. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. This advisory replaces the previous advisory that was in effect for the island of Hawaii County. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 515 AM HST if flooding; persists.

WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. WHERE...Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island. WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A kona low west of the islands has drawn abundant moisture northward. Rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are anticipated. The heaviest rain is expected to last through tonight, except for the Big Island where the heaviest rain is expected Sunday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
