...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 9 PM CDT SUNDAY FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE SOUTH PLAINS, ROLLING PLAINS, AND THE FAR SOUTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE... Wind...West at 15 to 20 mph during the morning. Winds will then become northeast at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph behind a cold front during the afternoon. The wind shift will first affect the southern Texas Panhandle around midday, then affect the South Plains and Rolling Plains later in the afternoon. Humidity...As low as 5 percent. Fuels...Extremely dry. Impacts...Any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is discouraged. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
