At 1042 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Popes Creek to Wicomico River to 7 nm southwest of Nomini Bay, moving east at 30 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Observed wind. IMPACT...Boaters in small craft could be thrown overboard by suddenly higher winds and waves capsizing their vessel. Locations impacted include... ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM APPROACHING THE WATERS... The areas affected include... Tidal Potomac from Cobb Island MD to Smith Point VA... Tidal Potomac from Indian Head to Cobb Island MD... At 959 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located 9 nm south of Fairview Beach, moving northeast at 50 knots. The strong thunderstorm will be near... Fairview Beach, Potomac Creek, Nanjemoy Creek, Dahlgren, and Maryland Point around 1005 PM EDT. Mathias Point, U.S. 301 Nice Memorial Bridge, Popes Creek, and Swan Point around 1010 PM EDT. Port Tobacco River and Cobb Island around 1015 PM EDT. Wicomico River around 1020 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by the strong thunderstorm include Swan Point and Cobb Island. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
