At 539 PM HST, radar indicated heavy showers and thunderstorms redeveloping over West Maui, with rain falling at rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Flooding remains ongoing. Stream levels remain high across West Maui, and emergency management recently reported road closures in the Lahaina, Kahului, and Wailuku areas. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A kona low west of the islands has drawn abundant moisture northward. Rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are anticipated. The heaviest rain is expected to last through tonight, except for the Big Island where the heaviest rain is expected Sunday.
