...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR HOT, DRY AND WINDY CONDITIONS FOR WESTERN SECTIONS OF NORTH TEXAS AND MUCH OF WESTERN, CENTRAL, NORTHERN AND SOUTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA... WINDS...Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph becoming north 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 to 20 percent. TEMPERATURES...Highs in the mid 70s northwest Oklahoma to near 100 in western north Texas. IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A wind shift will affect any fires that develop ahead of the cold front. SEVERITY... FUELS (ERC)...90th+ percentile...5 (out of 5). WEATHER...Critical...3 (out of 5). FIRE ENVIRONMENT...8 (out of 10). PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will contribute to extreme fire behavior.
