...FIRE DANGER STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS EVENING... The combination of dry fuels from the ongoing drought, low relative humidity and gusty winds will continue to produce an increased fire danger across southeast NC thru early this evening. Strong north to northeast winds at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph will be accompanied by relative humidity values in the 20s thru early this evening. The gustiness in the wind field will diminish by sunset allowing the adverse fire conditions to improve slightly. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Outdoor burning is not recommended today. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do burn, you are advised to use extreme caution and to have fire suppression equipment readily on-hand.
