...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CHST THURSDAY... ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON... WHAT...Large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet and dangerous rip currents. WHERE...West and north facing reefs of the Marianas. WHEN...Until 6 PM ChST Thursday. IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An incoming northerly swell is starting to affect the Marianas, building surf along west and north facing. Surf is expected to peak around to 12 feet especially along north facing reefs tonight. Could see a high risk of rip currents develop along east facing reefs Wednesday as the swell wraps around the island. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CHST THURSDAY... WHAT...East winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt and seas 8 to 11 feet expected. WHERE...Marianas Coastal Waters. WHEN...Until 6 AM ChST Thursday. IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A large northerly swell is or will shortly build seas this evening, with winds increasing as a trade-wind surge builds across eastern Micronesia and towards the Marianas. Seas are expected to peak around 11 feet tonight, with winds hovering close to the 22 kt threshold. Winds and seas are expected to steadily decrease Wednesday night as the trade-wind surge and northerly swell diminish. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.
