Description

DAMAGING SOUTHWESTERLY WIND GUSTS of around 90-100 km/h remain possible along the coastal fringe of the South Coast and Illawarra and into southern portions of the Sydney Metropolitan coastline. Conditions are expected to ease below warning thresholds overnight. Separate Coastal Hazard Warnings for DAMAGING SURF and HAZARDOUS SURF are current. Flood warnings are also active for parts of the state. See https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts for details. Locations which may be affected include parts of the Sydney coast, Wollongong, Nowra, Batemans Bay, Eden, Cooma and Bega. Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED. A 115 km/h wind gust was recorded at Point Perpendicular (near Jervis Bay) at 4:23 pm. A 119 km/h wind gust was recorded more recently at Montague Island Lighthouse at 4:23 pm. A 130 km/h wind gust was recorded at Montague Island Lighthouse at 1:53 pm. A 118 km/h wind gust was recorded at Green Cape at 11:41 am. A 118 km/h wind gust was recorded at Mallacoota (Victoria) at 10:07 am.
